"You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and keep a record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some may be funny. Some may be significant only to you. Some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experiences." ~Gordon B. Hinckley

Check out the new do!

This was the week of the haircut!!! And we love Briley Brown for always giving us both the sassiest haircuts in town. I even went for some bangs for myself this time around. But first I must reminisce....

As I was doing Delainee's hair one day, she began to wonder about her image in the mirror. She began to question where the color of her eyes and the shape of her mouth came from. I explained that she had my blue eyes and the shape of her mouth came from me. We talked about Laetner having my blue eyes also, but that his mouth was shaped like daddy. I then asked her who she thought she got her hair from. She and Laetner are both blondies just like daddy, so I figured she would answer "Daddy." Simple matter of putting two and two together, right? Well, I could see her really thinking about it and then she answered with a questioning expression, "Briley?" AH, my poor little blond girl, way too much deductive reasoning for one day!

But here is both of our new dos!

And I am holding Waverly in one arm and taking the picture with the other hand. I was hoping she would look when the flash went off, but she was SO not interested. Not the best angle but you get the idea...

While Briley does not actually cut Laetner's hair, he had a hair cut this week as well. Much to my chagrin, Court took a #3? to his head and buzzed it all off. Just when I was getting it long enough to get a part in it.--Curses! Court always promises to just "clean him up around the ears," and the next thing I know its all gone! But since Delainee was getting her picture to show off her haircut, he wanted one too. I told him to smile and he said he was doing it just like the Joker. Thank goodness I don't really see the resemblance, but that just gives you an idea of how much he is into Batman, and Spiderman, and Incredible Hulk, and.......ANYTHING Super Hero.

Okay, upon further inspection he might look a little reminiscent of Heath Ledger's late portrayal!

Cabin Trip with the Elders Quorum Presidency

Last weekend (Friday 16th -Sunday 17th) we headed up to Pinedale to the Fischbeck cabin. Court has been wanting to invite his Elders Quorum Presidency before it gets "disbanded." Last minute the Gunnell's had to pull out but we had so much fun with the Bennett's and the Pace's. All of our kids played so well together---we barely noticed that we had any kids with us!!!

Look at my two handsome boys as they get back from a quad ride!

Court was such a good sport and gave rides on the "rhino" all day long.

Delainee, Emery, and Mason (back ) with Ryan and a very excited looking Porter in front!

Delainee took a spin around the cabin

Laetner brought mommy back a flower from the trip---it goes well with the spiderman hat.

And Waverly took things easy by hanging out in the cabin and rolling EVERYWHERE! I cannot believe that she is already 6 months old.

We had such a good time. We got home Sunday night, but as soon as we got up Monday morning, Laetner informed me that we were going to the cabin after school. I told him I didn't think so, and he said "Daddy say YES!" (that is his usual response to me whenever I tell him no---pretty much Court does say yes to everything for the kids) But we got it all sorted out can't wait for our next trip out of the heat of August in Phoenix. Thanks to our friends for joining us, and a very special thanks to James Bennett for being willing to play games ALL night long with us!

A new school year begins

Monday night we had meet the teacher night! This was a little tough for Delainee. After a year of kindergarten with the oh so cute and oh so young Miss Hann, Delainee was not quite sure what to make of her new teacher Mrs. Turley who is quite a bit older. How old you ask? Well when we got back into the car, Court looks at me with a sarcastic grin and says, "You know, I think that Mrs. Turley was my 1st Grade teacher as well." ----she just might have been!

We talked Delainee into giving her a shot and she is so glad she did. Of course we had to capture the obligatory first day photos......

Here is Delainee in the outfit she picked out a week prior and laid out in her room. Can you still see the sleep behind her eyes?

Laetner was obviously thrilled to be heading back to pre-school AGAIN. First day is not so scary for him yet, as he has had the same teacher (Miss Gwynne) for the last two years now. He is a speech qualifying preschooler, and we are lucky that he is at the same elementary school as Delainee.

Here is the group shot with cousins minus Laetner. (He only goes in the afternoon.) Crew Bob and Fay Fay along with Shelby and I walked the entourage to their class line-ups. "The white people [were] MELTING."

Laetner makes his grand entrance in a little more style. We love Miss Donna the bus driver--especially since she picks him up at our house!

CAUTION:

"one of these things is not like the other..... " Can you figure out who it is?

After a long hard, hot day, our "geek squad" returns home victorious and ready for another day tomorrow, and the day after that, and the day after that, and the day after that...........

Something Fischy is going on. My Book Club gals have finally convinced me that a blog is a good thing. We will see.
And it isn't that they actually talked me into the blog--they have been trying to do that for about the last year. What finally convinced me was when they said that by doing a blog it forced them into looking for cute or funny things about their children EVERYDAY. I had begun to feel that I was constantly losing my temper, and shouting at my kids more than I was laughing with them everyday. Hopefully this WILL help me laugh at the "naughty" things they do! Not to mention it IS journaling!
