"You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and keep a record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some may be funny. Some may be significant only to you. Some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experiences." ~Gordon B. Hinckley

My Back Hurts Just Thinking About It

Court loves when the weather finally turns cold. He loves being able to open up the windows and putting fans in front of said windows, and blowing as much cold air straight on to himself as possble. I wake up with sore throats every morning, and I am dreading having to roll out of bed into a 65 degree house---but he loves it. He is starting to rub off on Lainee and Laetner, becuz they already beg for a floor fan to blow right by their heads at night. To capitalize even further he does something that I think is REALLY weird.

Apparently in his house growing up, Mama Maurio would keep the thermostat at a 'balmy' 82 degrees---YIKES. So the kids discovered that they could keep cool by sleeping on the tile of the kitchen floor (while wearing as little clothing as possible.) They would use huge floor fans that sound like you are caught in a wind tunnel and would sleep right in front of them to help add to the effect. Court says he and his brother Dan were the masters at it, and claims that they once found Dan in the buff!

Well I woke up earlier than usual the other morning and found myself to be alone in bed---which was odd becuz Court ACTUALLY was in town. I figured he couldn't sleep and went looking for him on the computer, but he wasn't there. I peeked in Laetner's room and found BOTH he and Laetner ON the wood flooring right in front of a fan just snoozing away. It looked SO uncomfortable. But the freak woke up saying that not only had he slept so good, but that he thought it was even better than sleeping on the tile.

So odd.....

Fine, Fine, the 'MAN'-cation Report

Long before we had kiddies, Court and I went to Sea World one time. This was before we ever had a digital camera. When we got home and finally developed the pictures I found rolls and rolls of pictures of all sorts of scenery and animals, but hardly any shot with a person in them. This was thanks to Court. Since then I have slowly trained him that if there isn't someone IN the shot, then it isn't really worth taking. Luckily for me he has learned this lesson well, and he did a GREAT job of documenting his week with the 'guys.

At the end of the week everybody exchanged their memory cards, so I actually ended up with ALL the pictures from everyone's cameras, and obviously the other MEN haven't learned their lesson becuz the bulk of THEIR pictures were like this...

Hawaii is INDEED beautiful--blah, blah, blah. But I wanted some ACTION shots! Ü Can't really give a daily play by play, cuz I wasn't there, and Court refuses to actually get on and blog about it but here are some of the highlight of the' gay' errr man-cation. (and in no particular order cuz I don't really know what was done when! )

Here are our three participants, Court, Wes Young and Jim Stewart!

They are standing in front of the cage that they would later be in when they would be swimming with the sharks.
Here is the same cage in the ocean---and Court contemplating whether he should get in...

Court did say that Wes is SCARED TO DEATH of sharks, so this was a big deal for him. While in the water Court was jerking around and would put his hands thru the cage and out into the water for the sharks to have a bite at him. Wes (to not be outshined) put his hand outside of the tank as well and Court dove for Wes' hand to hold it out there so he couldn't pull it back in.

This classy shot was taken on Tuesday night while the boys holed up in their hotel room to watch Biggest Loser...

Usually that show inspires a healthier meal than McDonalds!

These haggard faces set out for a late night of deep sea fishing...

And they actually caught something...

Although I do have to say that between the machete and the crazy hair, that Court is looking more and more like the serial killer that we all know he is destined to be.

Some great candids....

And here is the ULTIMATE! Ü

I am glad that Court was able to fit in this guy trip into to his already scheduled work week.
I just hope these boys don't think this is a regular occurence!

One More Night, and I've Had Enough!

Court has been gone all week. He is in Hawaii, AGAIN. He is officially there for work, but he has a little company with him. He is in Hawaii with two other guys. For the week! Three married men in Hawaii for a week. Something is very wrong with this situation. I call it a gay-cation! He promises to take lots of pictures so I can post about his gay-cation.

My calendar says he comes back Friday. The kids have been telling me that daddy comes back Friday. I have been telling everybody that he comes back Friday. But when I asked him for a specific time that he would be home on Friday, I just heard silence on the other end of the receiver. While his flight does indeed leave Hawaii on Friday, he will not be home until Saturday morning around 9:00 a.m. Suddenly I feel like I can't take it any more. I can hear his argument, "Come on it's only one night, you'll be sleeping anyways." Yes, but once again I will be sleeping alone. And he has been gone since Monday, and I have had everything under the sun hit me this week, but I kept telling myself I could handle this til Friday.

Well I never told myself that I could handle this til Saturday! Ü

Pavlovian Puppy

a.k.a Miss Waverly.

The child has been trained by two distinct sounds.

#1: The words 'yo gabba gabba'....
Upon hearing said words she RUNS toward the couch in the family room and jumps up into the corner with all the pillows. She then proceeds to dance and twirl to the most RIDICULOUS t.v. show EVER made---but man alive their songs are catchy! Ü Here she will stay indefinitely until the magical sound of

#2: The clinking of the sweets jar lid...
The afore mentioned Sweets & Treats jar that sits atop our kitchen table has been full of candy corn for the last couple of weeks. If anyone DARES to sneak anything out of the jar, Waverly will hop up from the couch, run around the corner of the couch, and come at you with her hands signing for 'more' or 'please' and sometimes even 'milk' if she gets too excited. And there is no sneaking anything past her. No matter how quietly you try and replace the lid she ALWAYS hears.

Happy Hallo'week'

Our Halloween celebrations actually started a week prior at our annual Fischbeck Halloween Party errr Carnival. We had face painting, ghost making, pumpkin bowling, a costume parade, daddy mummies, spook burgers and mummy dogs---with witches brew, scary touch and feel, donuts on a string, and we even decorated brownies into halloween characters--pumpkins, ghosts, spiders and frankenstein---IT WAS THE EVENT OF THE YEAR!

This was one of my favorite shots of the night. All of the daddies sat in chairs in our yard and we were given two rolls of toilet paper and then told to go to town. When we were all done, we gathered up all the little kids (like 2 and under) and made them figure out where their daddy was. As soon as Court spoke Waverly's name she knew he was the one in the middle standing up!
Photobucket

Then came Friday and the parties at school. I was crazy enough to volunteer to help at both the 2nd grade AND the kindergarten celebration, so I started in one hallway at noon and then raced around the corner at 1:30 for the next!

Delainee made a spider hat, a pumpkin donut, a bat, and then got to decorate her pumpkin with stickers.

Laetner did pumpkin bowling, face painting, spider pops, cake walk and a spider hat of his own...

We were not able to make our ward trunk or treat, cuz grandpa fischbeck had his retirement party on Friday night, but we finally made it to the 31st! I have to say that it was slightly disappointing. We met up with our usual crew for pizza before heading out for a night on the town, but it seemed like very few trick or treaters were out and about, and it seemed like even less houses were giving out candy this year. Not to mention that we weren't even done with ONE street when Laetner announced he was DONE! But the kids had fun, and after her initial reservations, Delainee was glad to have conceded into being Luigi in order to help complete our Super Mario Brothers Theme. EVERY house would always exclaim, "Hey it's Mario and Luigi!" to which Laetner would always reply "How they know my costume?" He must seriously think he is the only person on the planet that plays Nintendo.

Here is our Nintendo crew: Luigi, Mario, and this is a stretch but we even have a purple Yoshi

Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween!
