"You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and keep a record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some may be funny. Some may be significant only to you. Some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experiences." ~Gordon B. Hinckley

Court's Happy Birth/Father's Day!

Court's Birthday was on June 12th. The big 36! We have previously discussed how he should REALLY look into legally changing his birthday out of the month of June due to its tendency to get overlooked by all the June going ons. But this year was REALLY bad. See, Saturday June 12th was a very busy day. I was working a matinee AND an evening performance at MCC and he had to attend the baptism AND a baby blessing for nephews in the same family. Wasn't a lot of room in the day to actually celebrate his birthday. And shame on his family---they were all gathered together and not a SINGLE one of them wished him a Happy Birthday---POOR GUY!!!

We couldn't just wait for the next weekend either, becuz not only was Father's Day the following weekend, but I had to go out of town to Utah for some Let's Play Music trainings---so he pretty much got worked over TWICE!!! But I had looked ahead at the calendar. I knew that things wouldn't be ideal, but I had thought this one out, paid attention to things he had hinted at wanting, and on SUNDAY JUNE 13th we had a dual celebration!!!! Cuz pretty much Sunday June 13th was the ONLY day we could dedicate to the guy we ALL love the best!

I had pow wowed with the kids on ideas for gifts that they wanted to give to him, and especially on what we should do for the cake!!! Of course Laetner wanted to do SOMETHING to do with the wii, leaning toward something super mario bros-ish. But we came up with a VERY cute idea that pleased everyone---even Waverly since she was SUPER excited to help MAKE the cake!

Among the great ideas was a camping stove/oven (he has been wanting to go camping lately)

The best part was that he really had NO idea what ANY of his gifts were!

Can you GUESS what Waverly gave to Daddy???? Ü

And the cake....

Wii REALLY do love our Daddy! Court is the BEST thing that has happened to ANY of us!

It wasn't the first time his birthday got ignored in his life. But a great celebration for him.
A clever appropriate cake.

How absolutely adorable is that cake? I'm trey impressed with your skillz. Looks like he had a FABULOUS day, even if it wasn't ON his day. I shant let Jere see this, as eh thinks he should be showered with lots of presents all the time, and i don't believe in it. Oh well. He has me, what more could he possibly want?

Very cool. I love the cake, and that you made sure it was a special day for him and that the kids were involved so it was special for them, too. Well done!
